How to Set Up a Belkin Wireless Router on a Mac?

Set Up a Belkin Wireless Router on a Mac

Setting up a Wi-Fi router on a Mac is a quite different process rather than setting up a router on a PC, with a few modifications in the later steps which want knowledge of the Mac OSX layout. If you are going to the Belkin wireless router setup, then the first things you need to follow the documentation provided by the manufacturer. Thus, you will be able to set it up easily within a short span of time without any hassle. Steps are:

  • At first, ensure that the Mac is not currently accessing the internet via the Ethernet cable.
  • Disconnect the cable modem from the wall to start the process, and then plug the router to the cable modem.
  • Plug the network cable back of the Mac system and connect it into the router port which is labeled either WAN, WLAN, or Internet.
  • Connect the cable modem into the power socket backside and let it start. Wait for a few moments.
  • Ensure that the Mac computer is turned on as well, for complete initialization.
  • Make a temporary Internet connection by connecting to the network cable directly into one of the available ports on the router.
  • Check that this port is not related to the WAN, WLAN, or an Internet port described above.
  • Launch your browser and enter the specific address provided by the router manufacturer in the address bar. If necessary, then you should enter a password.
  • Enter the SSID or network name. It will direct you into the configuration page that occurs next to the password input in the above step. Check the encrypted password of the network selected by you. After that, ‘Apply’ your settings.
  • Unplug the network cable from the Mac as to the temporary internet connection of server you established.
  • Now, you will be able to configure the wireless router. The Mac wireless card will perform the work.
  • Click on the network icon right side, which is the waves’ set placed in the Mac OSX upper right-hand-side.
  • Now, you will be able to access your new wireless network connection on your Mac.
  • Once you click on the wireless icon, choose the SSID network’s name from the drop-down list, wait a moment, and then enjoy the wire-free internet browsing.
